about

Diagnosed with cancer in 2012, I began a musical hiatus which interrupted work on my previous album, The Way It Is. In October, 2014, I picked up my beloved Gibson and began playing and writing songs again. As of 11/1/17, I had demoed 20 songs and I have decided to release them - and more - over time as recorded in my studio.

For another look at the music in this album, the meaning of the lyrics, some history, anecdotal stories and such, please see my blog, Dakotah Wind, at telemarkbluesky.com/wp/

Please have a listen to my music and join the conversation at my blog! Blessings!

Track Name: Red Sky Evening
RED SKY EVENING
Written by Robert Kjonaas, 02/23/15
Telemark Blue Sky Music, BMI

I’m headin’ out to find my Golden Days
I lost ‘em on the Road
I was turning ‘round to see my better half
The day I came across you

It was there one mornin’ in the Sweet Sunshine
I never felt more Alive
But in the Red Sky Evening
And a cool wind callin’
I had to leave ‘em behind
My whole world left behind

I’m waitin’ for this World to Turn Around
I’m countin’ all the Moons
I’m hopin’ when I see You standing there
These old strings still play in tune

It was there one mornin’ in the Sweet Sunshine
I never felt more Alive
But in the Red Sky Evening
With the Nighthawks callin’
I had to leave you behind
My whole world left behind

I dream about my ol’ friend Chocolate
She'd drive me down that Road
Then wait for me in sleepy canyons
Where the hills were all lined in Gold

It was there one mornin’ in the Sweet Sunshine
I never felt more Alive
But in the Red Sky Evening
And a cool wind callin’
I had to leave her behind
My whole world left behind
Track Name: Bad Hair Day
BAD HAIR DAY
Written by Robert Kjonaas, February 2015
Telemark Blue Sky Music

Many was the time I thought I could
Rise right up
And turn into a cloud (Yeah!)

And then I would fly away (I’d fly away)
Fly, fly away
Without any trace
Skip out on the race, yeah, just empty space

Many was the time I thought I’d just
Break down
And die right on the spot! (Well)

It was just a bad hair day (A bad hair day)
A time to walk away
We can figure it out
It’ll all make sense somehow

And many was the time I thought I’d be
Torn apart
Have to start all over again, a million little pieces

And there were times I thought I’d be
Cut way back
I was a vine climbing up on a wall
With no purpose at all, yeah, man I was out of control!

And then I’d see your face (I’d see your face)
And there’s still a trace
Of me and you
Baby what’ll we do now, what to do?
Track Name: A Song For You
The time is here now
For our goodbyes
Here's a song for you
My friend...
Until we meet again
